I had a bunch of leftover paint on my palette from Mountain Sunrise #2, so I decided to do something “satisfying.” My seven year old daughter uses the term to describe things that give her an unexpected pleasure–like puzzle pieces fitting together or in my case, oddly, sewing quilt blocks together. Using the leftover paint and a couple of Jacoba van Heemskerck’s paintings for inspiration, I completed this very satisfying painting.
