Pikes Peak and Walnut, Oil on Board, 12×16, 2020

Urban plein air painting with Chris and Co. this week. Selected inspirational reading from Robert Henri’s “The Art Spirit” suggested that instead of pursuing the “drudgery” of perfection, as painters we should have joy of expression (i.e. make it look fun). Sometimes I get caught up in what I “should” be doing and forget to do what I should be doing. This time I let my imagination do what it wanted and I really enjoyed this painting.
