Green Mountain Falls Path, Oil on Board, 12×16, 2020

Week #2 at Green Mountain Falls with Chris’s plein air painting class. Another peaceful morning. Another cinnamon roll. I tried to capture the early morning long shadows on the trees and this feeling that the whole scene was drawing me forward to the southeast–down the road. I also did some experimentation of the weight and color of the outlines. I noticed that the darkest lines occur closest to the light source, while the farther away from it you follow a shadow, it becomes less dark and wider, less defined.
