My take on van Gogh’s very popular masterpiece “Wheatfield with Cypresses,” 1889. I’ve enjoyed these exercises of first trying to copy a masterwork, then applying my own spin on them. This, of course, is cheating as far as composition goes, but it does much for deciding how to approach a subject matter as it is presented through another artist’s lens. This is done often in writing specifically–where a old tale gets a new spin. However disdainful, the idea does not keep me from enjoying both works independently.
